About the artist

Hi, and welcome to my website!

My name is Alexandra Nishi and I am a Brazilian interdisciplinary artist currently based in Chicago and pursuing my education at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. My main focus is the Architecture/Interior Architecture and Designed Objects departments, and my main material of work is wood at the moment. My background in both departments allow me to have more creative freedom when it comes to designing products and furniture pieces alongside to the architectural intervention proposals.

My work mainly focuses on its function and each client’s needs and desires. My pieces also usually have an organically shaped component that makes the body of work cohesive. I am always interested in exploring the boundaries between both departments and how well they are able to be combined. I love learning new things and am always willing to have a hands-on experience.
